A Lancaster woman who defrauded two nonprofit veterans organizations out of more than $1.4 million has been sentenced to prison, federal prosecutors announced on Friday, Sept. 5.
Jessika L. Hiepler, 47, was sentenced to 24 months in prison, three years of supervised release, a $10,000 fine, 100 hours of community service, and restitution of $432,925.35, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The 43-year-old prosecutor suffered "sudden unexpected death in epilepsy," The Virginian-Pilot reports, citing the State Medical Examiner's Office.

David Martinez, who served West New York as a police officer for 25 years, died on Saturday, Aug. 16, the police department announced.

Jay Hill, a 51-year-old West Deptford man was killed in a car crash in Gloucester County on Route 295 on Sunday, July 20, authorities said.
At 6:47 p.m., Hill's Chevrolet Nova lost control on Route 295 north in Logan Township in Gloucester County, veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Hill died the next day from his injuries, Lebron said.
